The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that the monsoon’s arrival in Kerala will be delayed by three to four days. Kerala is now expected to experience the monsoon by June 7, despite prior predictions that it would arrive by June 4.
The IMD issued a statement on Monday saying that “the conditions are improving with an increase in westerly winds across the south Arabian Sea. Additionally, westerly winds are getting stronger with time; yesterday, on June 4, they reached a position 2.1 km above mean sea level.
“The Southeast Arabian Sea is experiencing an increase in cloud mass as well. We anticipate that over the following three to four days, these favorable circumstances for monsoon commencement over Kerala will continue to get better, the meteorological service noted. Additionally, it stated that the situation was being watched and will be updated.
In the southern state, monsoon rains began to fall on May 29 in 2022, June 3 in 2021, and June 1 in 2020.
When the monsoon season will start in other regions of the nation has not been specified by the weather service.
