Imtiaz Ali Unveils Reason for Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ Direct OTT Release”

With Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, Imtiaz Ali is getting ready for the Netflix debut of “Amar Singh Chamkila,” which will take place in lieu of a theatre run. As it looks more closely into the life of the well-known musician known as the “Elvis of Punjab,” the movie has become the buzz of the town. The director gave Pinkvilla an explanation for his decision to broadcast the biographical drama directly to over-the-top streaming services. He explained that this was done to make sure that others outside of Punjab were also aware of the tale.

As a Hindi film director, I felt that producing Chamkila in Hindi was essential since the subject matter is so vast and, in my opinion, global. Nevertheless, it’s something fresh, and I believe there is a purpose to the picture. I thus thought that those who are not from Punjab should watch it and find it enjoyable. It should be enjoyable to those who may not even be native speakers of these languages and are not citizens of this nation. That’s not your question, but that’s my response, which is why we produced Chamkila in Hindi,” he continued.

Imtiaz Ali and Mohit Choudhary are the film’s producers, while Parineeti Chopra plays the major role. On April 12, it will make its Netflix debut.

One of the most talented performers and singers in Punjabi cinema, Diljit debuted in Bollywood with the 2016 film “Udta Punjab.” After that, he starred in popular Hindi films including “Jogi,” “Soorma,” “Phillauri,” and “Good Newwz.” Whether Amar Singh Chamkila aids him in further solidifying his reputation in Hindi film is still up in the air. 

Following the release of “Crew,” which debuted on March 29, this will be his first release. The main cast members are Kriti Sanon, Tabu, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The comedy-drama has a special appearance by Kapil Sharma.
