IND vs SA: Flying Ants Made 3rd T20I Stop Midway & Compelled Players To Leave The Field

The third T20I between India and South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday faced an unusual disruption as a swarm of flying ants invaded SuperSport Park. With floodlights on, the swarm appeared on the field, forcing the players to halt play due to the insects causing visibility issues and discomfort.

Batting first, India set an impressive target of 219/6. Young batter Tilak Varma, promoted to number three, made headlines with his maiden T20I century, scoring an unbeaten 107 off 56 balls. His explosive innings included seven sixes and eight boundaries, setting the tone for India’s dominant total. Supporting him, Abhishek Sharma added a quick 50 off 25 balls, further bolstering India’s innings.

As South Africa began their chase, the flying ants disrupted play. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was seen struggling with the insects during his opening over, prompting the umpires to temporarily stop the game. To address the issue, ground staff stepped in, spraying pesticides to clear the field.

The Indian team has taken a lead of 2-1 in the series by winning the third T20I by 11 runs as South Africa could manage only 208/7 in their 20 overs.
