India at Paris Olympics 2024
The schedule for the first day of the Paris Olympics in 2024 includes two teams competing in the mixed team qualification event for the 10m air rifle, marking the start of India’s medal campaign. Athletes in badminton and shooters will also start their careers on Saturday in Paris. The Indian athletes’ schedule for Day 1 of the Games is listed below.
The Olympic Games in Paris began on Friday with a glamorous and unprecedented opening ceremony. On Saturday, July 27, athletes must report for duty as medals will be awarded. On Saturday, there will be mixed team qualification and medal matches for the 10m air rifle event, providing India with an opportunity to start strong.
The action in India will begin on Saturday at 12:30 pm IST, with rower Balraj Panwar leading. In badminton, Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, and the women’s doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will be in action. In hockey, India will open their campaign against New Zealand in a group-stage match that evening. It will be the first group-stage fixture for the shuttlers.
Rohan Bopanna, a tennis veteran, and Sriram Balaji begin their campaigns. As early as the first round of the men’s doubles, the Indian pair will have a difficult assignment ahead of them as they take on local favourites Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Fabien Reboul of France. In the men’s singles table tennis division, Harmeet Desai will compete.
The qualification round for the 10m air pistol competitions for men and women will also take place in shooting. One of India’s greatest medal prospects, Manu Bhaker, will compete in an attempt to put the memories of the Tokyo Olympics—where she finished empty-handed in all three of her events—behind her.

On the first day of competition in Tokyo, India’s Mirabai Chanu earned a silver medal in weightlifting. It will be interesting to see if India can maintain the trend in Paris.
