India secured a commanding six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, February 23. Chasing a target of 242 runs, India rode on Virat Kohli’s maiden Champions Trophy century to reach the target in 42.3 overs, losing just four wickets in the process. The defeat marked Pakistan’s second consecutive loss in the tournament, leaving them at the bottom of the Group A points table with zero points from two matches.

Despite two consecutive losses, Pakistan is still in contention for a spot in the semi-finals. Mohammad Rizwan’s team can advance if Bangladesh defeats New Zealand in the upcoming Group A match on Monday in Rawalpindi. If Pakistan manages to defeat Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Thursday, February 27, and India secures a win against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday, March 2, the group will witness a three-way tie. In this scenario, India will top the table with six points from three matches, while Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand will each have two points. The team with the superior net run rate will claim the second semi-final spot from Group A, giving Pakistan a chance to progress.

However, if New Zealand defeats Bangladesh on Monday, both Pakistan and Bangladesh will be eliminated from the tournament. Likewise, if the match between New Zealand and Bangladesh ends in a draw, Pakistan’s title defence in the Champions Trophy 2025 will come to an end.
