The Indian cricket team will certainly look to make a comeback in the 5-match test series against England after losing the first test match which was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
The Indian team lost the match by just 28 runs and what shocked everyone was the fact that India had a strong hold on the match for the first two days but the team fumbled in the second half. The Indian bowlers were not able to make any impact in the second innings of England and the batters also put up a disappointing show as they were not able to chase the target of 231 in the second innings.
Rohit Sharma was also slammed for his poor captaincy and many felt that India wouldn’t have lost this match if the team had been playing under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
The former English cricketer Michael Vaughan gave an interview on a YouTube channel and when he was asked whether the defeat in Hyderabad is an indication of India’s decline in test cricket at home or the Indian team missed the services of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, Vaughan chose neither the options and said “They missed Virat Kohli’s captaincy massively in Test cricket. Under Virat’s captaincy that week, India wouldn’t have lost the game. Rohit is a legend and a great player. But I felt he just switched off completely.”
