India shoot down over 50 Pakistani drones

India Highlights of Pakistani news: As a blackout was imposed over a large portion of the western border on Thursday night, India repulsed several Pakistani strikes in the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. India’s S400 air defence system fired down hostile missiles at several locations along the western border, intercepting at least eight Pakistani missiles in Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia in the Jammu region.

Blackouts and sirens were activated throughout the Jammu region. In Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara, sirens were also heard.

Earlier in the day, the Indian military claimed to have stopped attempts by Pakistani forces to use drones and missiles to strike multiple military targets in 15 cities in the north and west of the country. In a significant counteraction, India shot down over 50 Pakistani drones, preventing further strikes. The Indian forces also targeted Pakistan’s air defence network at various points, destroying the Lahore base during the retaliation.

According to Pakistan’s civil aviation authority, Islamabad and Lahore airports were temporarily closed “for operational reasons,” while Karachi airport was closed until 6 p.m.

In retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives on April 22, India launched precision attacks on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) the day before. Operation Sindoor was the code name for the mission. During an all-party conference on Thursday, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the operation killed at least 100 terrorists.
