Karan Bilimoria, a British Parliamentarian and founder of Cobra Beer, has made an astounding prediction about India’s economic growth. India has already overtaken the United Kingdom, securing its position as the fifth largest economy in the world. Bilimoria believes that India’s ascent to become the world’s largest economy will be realized by 2060.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Investiture Ceremony of his alma mater, Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet, Bilimoria expressed his confidence in India’s bright future. He stated, “The whole world is looking up to India. Without a doubt, India is on track to become one of the three global superpowers very shortly. Within the next 25 years, I predict that India’s GDP will reach an impressive 32 trillion dollars, securing its place as the second largest economy worldwide. Going even further, I firmly believe that by 2060, India will lead as the largest economy in the world.”

With the India-UK free trade agreement under discussion, Bilimoria hopes for its imminent realization. Trade between the two nations has been rapidly increasing, now surpassing 30 billion pounds annually. However, he believes that there is vast untapped potential for further growth in trade relations.

Reflecting on his successful visit to India as part of the UK parliamentary delegation in April, Bilimoria emphasized the importance of fostering strong ties between the nations. He suggested that UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak should lead a substantial delegation on a visit to India, including business leaders, ministers, and university representatives.

Highlighting the Indian diaspora’s significant contribution to the UK, Bilimoria referred to the 1.7 million people of Indian origin residing there as a “living bridge” with India. This thriving minority community, which includes prominent figures like the Prime Minister of Indian-origin, has excelled in various fields, including business and public life.

As a testament to his faith in India’s potential, Bilimoria expressed his desire to re-launch Cobra Beer in India at the earliest opportunity.

India’s journey towards becoming the world’s largest economy is nothing short of remarkable. With robust trade ties and a thriving diaspora, the future holds immense promise for this rising economic powerhouse.
