Amid escalating cross-border tensions that have persisted for over 17 days, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad delivered a fiery rebuke of Pakistan on Thursday, directly addressing their repeated ceasefire violations since the deadly Pahalgam attack. His sharp comments came as uncertainty grows around the Indian Premier League, which faces potential disruption due to fears of an impending military conflict between India and Pakistan.

Venketesh Prasad, known for his outspoken nature on social and national issues, didn’t mince words as he expressed his frustration on social media. “What a complete rogue state Pakistan is. India will screw them like how,” he posted on Thursday night, capturing public sentiment around the situation.

The volatile scenario reached a new high after air raid alerts forced the abandonment of Thursday’s IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. Security concerns in the wake of warnings from nearby regions like Jammu and Pathankot led to a swift evacuation of players and spectators.

Further intensifying the standoff, the Indian armed forces carried out coordinated precision missile strikes in the early hours of Wednesday. Nine terror camps and facilities across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were reportedly targeted. The operation included hits on known Jaish-e-Mohammed locations in Bahawalpur, located in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

As the threat of further conflict escalates, the future of IPL 2025 remains uncertain. The potential for a larger military engagement between two nuclear powers has created a tense atmosphere not only within political and defense circles but also in the realm of international sports.
