Indian Army and J&K Police Launch Search Operation After Suspicious Movement Along LoC

Following the observation of suspicious movement, the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police began a joint search operation along the LOC in the Poonch sector, on Monday.

In the meantime, Baramulla police announced on Sunday that over the past several days, it has carried out a large crackdown on narco terror at various sites, ranging from Uri along the Line of Control (LoC) to other areas of the Baramulla district, and has detained 318 drug dealers while also recovering massive quantities of drugs.

The police claim that drug handlers in Pakistan are utilizing smugglers as part of a plot to transport drugs into Jammu and Kashmir in order to indoctrinate the next generation with drug addiction.

Amod Ashok Nagpuri, senior superintendent of police in Baramulla, told that because the area is near a border, smuggling of firearms and drugs across borders is a significant concern for the police department. According to source, “187 FIRs have been filed by Baramulla police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act over the past six months.

A total of 284 drug dealers were detained, and 34 more were renowned dealers who were booked under the PIT NDPS/PSA. To now, 318 drug dealers have been detained in total, and the legal system is operating according to its own rules. Our goal is to make Baramulla a drug-free district, and the emphasis of our campaign is to eradicate the drug culture there, according to the SSP.

The SSP stated that Pakistan wants to spread drugs throughout the Kashmir Valley and added, “We will not let Pakistan’s evil plans succeed. The properties of infamous drug dealers, including a house and a car, were recently frozen by Baramulla police. The SSP Baramulla further disclosed that specialized squads had been sent into the area to obtain vital information on the local drug gang. The SSP described the proactive measures being taken by the Baramulla Police to combat the drug trade in the district, acknowledging the urgent necessity to address the escalating drug-related crimes in the area.

“We urge people to come forward with any information they may have about drug dealers or shady activities involving the sale of illegal drugs. We can create a safer, drug-free environment for our inhabitants if we work together, the SSP stated.

“The dedicated teams that the Baramulla Police have deployed are made up of seasoned officers and undercover operatives, and their task is to covertly acquire information on the operations, networks, and supply chains of the drug mafia. The teams’ goal is to infiltrate these criminal networks and collect strong evidence that will help with efficient investigations and hold offenders accountable. Locals have applauded the Baramulla police for taking this action, the SSP continued.
