Indian Ministry joins hands with Google for AI, cybersecurity

Through the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Google Cloud and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have partnered to enhance generative artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity in the country. The country’s students and government leaders’ cybersecurity skills will be greatly improved by this partnership.

Through a number of activities, the alliance will put an emphasis on cybersecurity education and skill development. One noteworthy project is teaching the best techniques for cyber protection to a “cyber force” of 1,000 government employees.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, thanked the Ministry for its leadership and commitment and emphasized the need to promote partnerships that would deliver secure and safe services for Indians across the country.

Google will also make a contribution by providing 100,000 students with scholarships for the Google Cyber Security Certificate and by educating public servants in the fundamentals of cybersecurity.

Sanjay Bahl, Director General of CERT-In, underlined the importance of cybersecurity in the digital age and noted that using generative AI effectively is crucial for being competitive in the rapidly changing digital environment. He also emphasized the importance of the partnership in developing knowledgeable cybersecurity and generative AI specialists in India.

The partnership also includes the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), a government initiative that is working with Google Cloud to enhance e-commerce in India with generative artificial intelligence (AI).

A nationwide hackathon is being organized by ONDC and Google Cloud with the goal of fostering creativity and tackling major issues that the country’s next billion internet users will encounter.

This collaboration between Google Cloud, MeitY, CERT-In, and ONDC highlights the significance of cybersecurity and generative AI in India’s digital transformation journey and denotes a concerted effort to provide citizens and public servants with the knowledge and abilities they need to successfully navigate this changing environment.
