India has achieved a landmark victory, securing their first-ever Women’s T20I series win against England with a commanding six-wicket triumph in the fourth match. This historic feat was largely thanks to a stellar performance from the Indian spinners.

With this significant win, India has established an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series, with the final game still to be played in Birmingham this Saturday. While India had previously defeated England in a solitary T20I match in Derby back in 2006, the ‘Women in Blue’ had since fallen short in every subsequent women’s T20I series against England, whether played at home or away.

Spin proved to be the decisive factor in India’s dominant win on Wednesday. Radha Yadav (2/15), 20-year-old Shree Charani (2/30), and Deepti Sharma (1/29) collectively claimed five wickets, effectively restricting the English hosts to a modest total of 126 for 7.

In response, openers Shafali Verma (32) and Smriti Mandhana (31) approached the chase with remarkable flair, forging a crucial 56-run partnership that laid a solid foundation for the victory. The visitors comfortably overhauled the target with 18 balls to spare, bringing a memorable evening to a triumphant close.

This victory offers a timely boost for the Indian team, assisting their acclimatization to English conditions ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in England next year.
