India’s women cricket team scripted history by defeating Australia in a test match for the first time in the history of cricket. India and Australia have played 11 test matches till now and Harmanpreet Kaur-led side defeated Aussies by 8 wickets in the test match which was played at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai.
The Australian side chose to bat after winning the toss but the Aussie batters were not able to make any impact as the whole team got out at 219 runs.
In response, India put up a great show and smashed 406 runs in their first innings, Smriti Mandhana (74 runs), Richa Ghosh (52 runs), Jemimah Rodrigues (73 runs) and Deepti Sharma (78 runs) played brilliant knocks and helped their team in putting up a good total.
The Australian team performed a little better in the second innings but still it was not enough as they could manage only 261 runs after which India needed just 75 runs to win the match. The Indian team easily achieved the target and won the match by 8 runs.
