iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 6 Out Now: What’s New and Which iPhones Are Eligible

Apple released iOS 18.1 developer beta 6 to qualified iPhone customers registered in its beta testing program. Aside from Apple Intelligence compatibility and an enhanced Siri assistant, this sixth developer beta adds more capabilities. In addition, the US-based technology giant has launched a new version of watchOS 11.1 developer beta, which enables Sleep Apnea detection for the Watch Series 10, Watch Series 9, and Watch Ultra 2.

Apple is scheduled to officially release the iOS 18.1 upgrade for eligible iPhones later this month, along with watchOS 11.1 and macOS Sequoia, which will provide the much-anticipated Apple Intelligence capabilities across its ecosystem devices.

iOS developer beta 6: What’s new

New in Apple Intelligence

With iOS 18.1 developer beta 6, users may now ask Siri, the virtual assistant on the iPhone, for a step-by-step tutorial on change particular device settings. When an app is initially opened, new pop-up alerts will display, outlining the Apple Intelligence features for that app.

Here are some further user interface adjustments for Apple Intelligence functions. For example, the Apple Intelligence symbol in the Notes app’s toolbar has been modified to show a pencil.

Sleep Apnea detection

The new Sleep Apnea detection function, which was introduced alongside the new Apple Watch Series 10, is now available in iOS 18.1 developer beta 6. Users using the most recent iOS beta on their iPhones may enable the functionality on their linked Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, and Watch Ultra 2 devices.

This function utilizes the Apple Watch’s accelerometer to identify breathing abnormalities while sleeping. The Apple Watch will analyze the data every 30 days and alert users if it detects consistent indicators of moderate to severe sleep apnea.

In addition to new functionality, Apple has revamped icons and user interface components across the system. For example, aggregated notifications for individual applications now show the total amount of merged notifications. New toggles can also be added to the Control Centre, such as settings for the Measure and Level tools in the Measure app.
