The world was just introduced to the iPhone 16 series by Apple. In keeping with tradition the business has also revealed the new software, iOS 18, which will be available next week. The latest OS has many features, such as support for Apple Intelligence, AI powers and supports, and customizations. Additionally, iOS 18 will include features like image generation, content editing, and ChatGPT-powered Siri. Will previous iPhone models also experience iOS 18 integration, even if the new iPhone 16 series will be the first to do so? Yes, iOS 18 will eventually make its way to iPhones from earlier generations, but not entirely.
iPhone models supported with iOS 18
With over 25 different iPhone models from the newest iPhone 16 series to more traditional versions like the iPhone SE (2nd generation) Apple’s iOS 18 upgrade ensures that a large user base can take advantage of the newest features and enhancements. The complete list of iPhones compatible with iOS 18 is as follows:
It should be noted that not all devices running iOS 18 will be able to use Apple Intelligence. Apple’s AI will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, in addition to the most recent iPhone 16 series. It’s interesting to note that once the new series of models is released, Apple has a history of retiring the Pro models. For all 15 Pro models, it will remain the same.
When can we expect iOS 18 to release?
On September 16, the latest operating system upgrade for iPhone devices that are compatible with it will formally arrive with the initial release of iOS 18. Speaking of customization, iOS 18 brought with it a new method for personalizing the Control Center, Lock Screen, and Home Screen. Apps and widgets can now be arranged in any available place, including directly above the dock. You may add new visual effects to your app icons and widgets to give them a distinctive appearance, such dark or tinted themes. You can also expand icons to make them quicker to access and have a stronger visual effect.
Your most-used functions, such as media playback, Home controls, and connectivity options, will be easier to reach with the revamped Control Center. Swiping between these groupings will be simple, and you can adjust the layout to your preference. Furthermore, further flexibility and convenience are now possible with the Control Center thanks to the addition of third-party app controls.
Apple is scheduled to release the complete changes later this fall. Currently, a few Apple Intelligence capabilities are being tested in the beta versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1. But Apple Intelligence’s compatibility will be limited when it comes formally. Only the iPhone 15 Pro, the recently revealed iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models, iPad Air or Pro models with M1, M2, or M4 CPUs, and Macs running Apple Silicon will be able use it.
