IPL loses confidence in this Delhi Capitals player who’s already out of Team India

IPL 2023 is proving to be the turning point for the careers of many players so far. The sinking career of some players seems to be getting support from this league. At the same time, some players have also emerged whose career has reached the verge of sinking after this IPL season.

The special thing is that both of them are such players of Team India who were being compared to big legends. There were already many discussions about Deepak Hooda, while now another big name can be included in this list.

The special thing is that when that player’s career started, he was compared to veterans like Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara. But now the world has started seeing the truth that it was all in a hurry.

We are talking about Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw, who was already out of Team India. But, now the IPL franchise has also started losing confidence in him. Phil Salt of England has now started the innings with captain David Warner in his place.

Retained at a cost of 8 crores, Shaw was able to score only 47 runs in 6 matches. After his embarrassing performance, even coach Ricky Ponting could not support him for long. After this, Delhi Capitals recalled Phil Salt, who was added to the team for Rs 2 crore, who started in five innings and hit 151 runs at an average of more than 30 and a strike rate of more than 177, including two half-centuries.

Prithvi Shaw started his journey in International Cricket with the oldest and longest format Test Cricket. When he made his debut against the West Indies with a brilliant century, the world began to feel that Team India had found an opener like Sehwag. But gradually the graph of his career kept falling.

Then he got opportunities in white ball cricket as well but he could not take advantage of that too. Shaw played the last Test match for India in December 2020. At the same time, since July 2021, he has not got a chance to play ODIs and T20s. Recently, he was selected in the squad for the T20 series against New Zealand but did not find a place in the playing 11.

Now looking at his performance in IPL 2023, it seems that he may be dropped from Team India for the time being. Prithvi Shaw was bought by the Delhi Capitals team in the mega auction held before IPL 2022 by spending Rs 7.50 crore. That season he scored 283 runs in 10 matches at an average of 28.3 and a strike rate of 152.97.

His performance was decent. It was expected that his bat would do something amazing in this season of IPL after making a spectacular comeback in domestic cricket. But this time his performance turned from bad to worse. Whereas this time the franchisee retained his salary from 7.50 crores to 8 crores.

Nothing has come of it at the moment. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that Delhi team might release Shaw before the next season of IPL.
