Rajpal Yadav recently addressed speculations regarding Varun Dhawan’s mental state following the underwhelming box office performance of their latest film, Baby John. Yadav played Constable Ram Sevak, the deputy to Varun’s character, DCP Satya Verma, in the movie.
In a recent interview, Rajpal Yadav spoke about the film’s box office failure and suggested that its reception was impacted because it was a remake of the Tamil hit Theri. He expressed that had Baby John not been a remake, it would have been one of the finest films of his 25-year career. Since Vijay had already delivered a powerful performance in the original, audiences were already familiar with the story, which affected the movie’s performance in theaters.
When asked whether Varun Dhawan was feeling depressed due to the film’s poor performance, Rajpal clarified that Varun is a dedicated and hardworking actor. He described him as a sweet person who continuously strives to take creative risks. Rajpal emphasized that such efforts deserve appreciation, as it takes courage to experiment with roles and storytelling.
Baby John was released on December 25, 2024, featuring Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff in significant roles. The storyline follows Inspector Satya Verma, also known as Baby John, who leads a peaceful life with his daughter Khushi and his old friend Ram Sevak, played by Yadav. However, his past resurfaces, leading to a dangerous confrontation with Babar Sher, portrayed by Jackie Shroff. The narrative explores Satya’s quest to avenge his wife’s tragic fate and the broader exploitation of women, forming the emotional core of the film.
