“It Was Purely Spontaneous”, Udit Narayan Defends Kissing Female Fans On Lips During Live Show

Renowned singer Udit Narayan has found himself at the center of controversy after a video from one of his live concerts went viral, sparking massive backlash online. The clip shows the legendary artist performing the hit song Tip Tip Barsa Paani while fans gather near the stage for selfies. However, what shocked many was the moment he kissed some of his female fans on the lips after posing for pictures.

As the criticism intensified, Udit Narayan addressed the controversy in an interview. Defending himself, he spoke about the passionate nature of his fans and insisted that the situation had been blown out of proportion.

He explained that such moments arise from enthusiasm and admiration, not from any inappropriate intent. “Fans are extremely passionate. We are decent people, but some individuals express their love this way. Why exaggerate the issue? There are so many people in the crowd, and security is always present. Fans see an opportunity to connect—some extend their hands for a handshake, others kiss hands. This is all part of their excitement and devotion, and it shouldn’t be given undue attention,” he remarked.

Regarding the viral moment where he was seen kissing a female fan, Narayan clarified that it was purely spontaneous. Reflecting on his long-standing career, he asserted that his reputation has never been tainted by such accusations. “I have been in Bollywood for 46 years, and my image has never been one of someone who forces such interactions. In fact, I always fold my hands in gratitude when I receive love from my fans. On stage, I bow down, knowing that this moment may never come again,” he concluded.

Despite his explanation, the incident has triggered widespread debate, with many questioning the boundaries of celebrity-fan interactions in the public sphere.
