Former head coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Team India’s exceptional performance, which culminated in their first-ever victory at Edgbaston – a resounding 336-run win over England. This commanding display successfully leveled the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at 1-1, a testament to the team’s resilience and skill.

Shastri particularly emphasized the significance of this win for the young Indian squad, commending their unwavering spirit over the challenging five days. “It’s a tribute to the character of the boys to bounce back the way they have. The defeat at Leeds was a tough pill to swallow, but this is a game where they have dominated right through with the bat, ball, and in the field. It’s a Test match to remember for Gill and India,” Shastri expressed on Sky Sports.

India entered this pivotal match trailing 0-1 after a surprising loss at Leeds, and notably without the services of Jasprit Bumrah or the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav. However, Akash Deep, who stepped in for Bumrah, delivered an outstanding fast-bowling performance. He consistently troubled England’s batters on a relatively flat pitch, ultimately bowling them out for 271 on the final day, with more than a session still remaining.

Akash Deep’s heroics were magnificently complemented by captain Shubman Gill’s exceptional display with the bat. Gill scored an astounding 430 runs across both innings – the most by an Indian in a Test match – a monumental effort that undeniably paved the way for this famous victory.

Congratulations, Indian team.
