With Jos Buttler set to miss the IPL 2025 playoff stages due to national commitments, Gujarat Titans find themselves without one of their top-order stalwarts. Despite the setback, team director Vikram Solanki remains optimistic about the team’s potential and approach as they gear up for the knockout rounds.

After a 63-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Solanki addressed the media and dismissed the notion that the Titans’ success hinges on a few star players. “He’s not available for the playoffs. So, we will approach the game as a team. It’s not about one individual or three individuals, as you keep reminding me – they’ve had good seasons,” Solanki stated in the post-match press conference, as reported by a leading publication.

Gujarat’s batting order has leaned heavily on the trio of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler through the league stage. However, with Buttler out of the picture, the focus now shifts to the middle order. Solanki remains confident that the remaining batters can rise to the occasion when needed. “I’m glad the top order has been scoring most of the runs. That’s a good thing. Yes, it means the middle order has sometimes not had the opportunity to bat. But when they have played, I think they’ve actually given a good account of themselves,” he added.

As the playoffs approach, Gujarat Titans aim to rely on team cohesion and depth rather than individual brilliance, hoping to make another deep run in the tournament despite the absence of their star English batter.
