Janhvi Kapoor is looking forward to the love drama “Mr & Mrs Mahi” to come out. In the Rajkummar Rao film, she plays a doctor who is passionate about cricket. The actor discussed the disadvantages of working in the entertainment business, never holding back in acknowledging the benefits of being the late actress Sridevi’s daughter. In a recent interview, filmmaker Karan Johar asked Janhvi how she felt about always being objectified. The “Dhadak” actor recalls that when she was just 12 or 13 years old, the media “sexualized” her.
Janhvi Kapoor Remembers Being Called a “Sexual” by the Media
In a recent interview with filmmaker Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about being sexualized by the media and said it’s nothing new for her. She talked about how photos of her from an event she went to with her parents, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, ended up on a pornographic website. I was maybe 12 or 13 years old the first time I felt like I was being sexualized by the media. My parents and I went to an event, and I was in images on the internet. Boys in my school were laughing and staring at images of me on what appeared to be a pornographic website, she claimed. Instagram and social media had just begun to take off.
“Again, I am repeating this because I feel like I am very sorry about where I come from and I need to get over that,” Janhvi continued. Others, I’m sure, handle it in far more real and truly terrible ways, but in very different ways.
Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor will appear in “Mr & Mrs Mahi.” On May 31, the movie will be released on large screens.
