Jasleen Royal, a renowned singer and music composer, has filed a lawsuit in the Bombay High Court against the music label T-Series, lyricist Raj Ranjodh, and singer Guru Randhawa. The lawsuit is aimed at protecting her music copyright after the alleged unauthorized use of her musical compositions in the song “All Right” from the album “G Thing.”
According to a statement, Jasleen Royal created the original music compositions in 2022 for a potential track that was to be used during promotional events for the Ajay Devgn-starrer “Runway 34.” She shared these compositions with lyricist Raj Ranjodh through audio-video calls and messages, leading to the creation of a preliminary version of the song.
The collaboration initially included Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa, known for hits like “Patola,” “High Rated Gabru,” “Soorma,” and “Ishaare Tere.” However, the scratch version recorded by Guru was not up to Jasleen’s expectations, resulting in the termination of their collaboration. Importantly, Jasleen retained all rights to the music.
In 2023, Jasleen discovered that the song “All Right,” released by T-Series with vocals by Guru Randhawa, allegedly incorporated her original musical works without her consent or any credit being given to her.
Jasleen, who is widely recognized for her songs such as “Din Shagna Da,” “Heeriye,” and “Nachde Ne Saare,” decided to take legal action to safeguard her intellectual property rights.
The lawsuit filed by Jasleen Royal asserts claims of copyright infringement and the violation of her moral rights. Jasleen’s legal team has already secured an interim order from the court, mandating T-Series to remove the song from all streaming platforms. Additionally, Raj Ranjodh and Guru Randhawa have been prohibited from using or exploiting the song in any manner.
