asprit Bumrah Looking Forward To Break This Record Of Ishant Sharma In Lord’s Test

Following a substantial rest of over two weeks, Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his highly anticipated return to the cricket field this Thursday, July 10. The 31-year-old fast bowler from Ahmedabad, currently holding the top spot in the ICC Test bowler rankings, will spearhead India’s bowling attack in the crucial third Test against England at Lord’s.

India’s captain, Shubman Gill, confirmed Bumrah’s participation in the red-ball encounter at the iconic “Home of Cricket” during the post-match presentation ceremony at Edgbaston on Sunday, July 6.

The upcoming Test at Lord’s presents a significant opportunity for Bumrah to etch his name in the record books. Should the prolific right-arm pacer manage to dismiss seven English batters during the match, he will surpass Ishant Sharma’s record of 48 wickets.

This achievement would make Bumrah India’s leading wicket-taker in Test matches against England, specifically on English soil. Ishant, whose last red-ball appearance for India was in 2021, has accumulated 48 wickets in 14 Tests played in England against the home side. In contrast, Bumrah currently boasts 42 wickets from nine Tests played under similar conditions.
