Nine years after the tragic death of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, her former boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, has made shocking claims regarding the events surrounding her demise. In a recent interview, Rahul revisited the allegations of murder against him, which arose after Pratyusha was found dead at her Mumbai residence in what was reported as a suicide. He accused Kamya Punjabi, Vikas Gupta, and Rakhi Sawant of fueling the narrative that he was responsible for Pratyusha’s death.
Rahul alleged that Kamya and Vikas were instrumental in spreading the accusations against him through media interviews. “Kamya Punjabi and Vikas Gupta also jumped in. They said that Rahul had murdered Pratyusha. That’s what I saw in their media interviews. They claimed that Pratyusha had no financial burden and wasn’t out of work. Vikas Gupta never offered her work but made such statements,” Rahul said in his interview with Subhojit Ghosh.
Rahul also accused Kamya of borrowing money from Pratyusha and failing to repay it. He claimed the actress lent Kamya between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh but never got her money back. “I did not know Kamya personally. Pratyusha introduced me to her once at a party. Kamya was totally high. Pratyusha had given some money to Kamya and asked her to return it, but Kamya said she had no work and promised to pay her back later,” he alleged.
Rahul went on to blame Kamya for influencing Pratyusha’s lifestyle, particularly encouraging her to drink excessively. “They used to drink a lot. I always wanted Pratyusha to stop drinking. Her friends partied a lot, but I wanted her to stop for her own good. When she began distancing herself from those parties, they saw me as the villain. They thought I was taking Pratyusha away from them. Kamya, in particular, was known for partying a lot—everyone knows this,” Rahul added.
These statements have reignited discussions about Pratyusha’s untimely death and the allegations surrounding it, further complicating an already controversial and tragic chapter in the television industry.
