The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut as its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut has filed an application ahead of polling. Each candidate is required to disclose all of their assets, both real and personal, to the Election Commission of India (ECI) at the time of nomination submission. The Chandramukhi 2 actress disclosed assets of over Rs 91 crore when she filed her nomination on Tuesday from the Mandi seat. The actress praised the party’s top leadership in a video posted to her Instagram account, expressing her “confidence” and giving her the opportunity to run in the forthcoming elections.
Kangana’s statement states that she possesses property valued at about Rs 91 crore, comprising roughly Rs 29 crore in mobile assets and approximately Rs 63 crore in immovable properties. It’s interesting to note that Kangana, the actress, stated in her declaration that she only possesses Rs 2 lakh in cash. According to the document, she paid about one-third as much in income tax in fiscal year 2022–2023 (Rs 4, 12, 95,770) as she had in the previous year.
The actress claims to be the owner of three high-end vehicles in the document: a Mercedes GLE 250D, a BMW 7 series, and a Mercedes Maybach GLS.
Particularly significant symbolically is the Mandi constituency, which is seen as a stronghold of the late former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s family. In 2021, a by-election was held for the seat that is now held by the late leader’s wife, Pratibha Devi Singh, after BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma passed away.
Regarding her career, Kangana was most recently seen in Tejas, an aerial action movie. She is working on a few major projects, one of which is directing Emergency. Mahima Chaudhry, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late actor Satish Kaushik are also featured in the movie.
