Kangana Ranaut has responded to the recent controversy involving actor and politician Jaya Bachchan. The issue arose when Jaya Bachchan objected in the Parliament to being addressed as “Jaya Amitabh Bachchan” by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar.
The veteran actress expressed her disapproval of being referred to by her husband’s name, leading to a tense exchange. She remarked, “Sir, just calling me Jaya Bachchan would have been sufficient.”
In an interview, Kangana Ranaut, who is also the MP from Mandi, shared her perspective on the incident. She called it “shameful” that the natural differences between men and women are now viewed as discrimination. Kangana emphasized that “a man is a man, and a woman is a woman,” and their partnership is something to be cherished. She dismissed the concerns as “petty issues” and criticized the current trajectory of feminism, warning that society is moving in an “ugly direction”.
Kangana called Jaya Bachchan arrogant as she said, “This arrogance hasn’t spared even the beautiful bond within families. Humans should embrace each other and not dissect each other with this sort of harshness. People are simply flaring up with the name coming up like they’re getting a panic attack or something. And when they say, ‘My identity is taken over, I am destroyed’ I just feel sad.”
