Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Will Release Next Year On This Date, Here Are Complete Details

After enduring delays and controversies, Kangana Ranaut’s ambitious solo directorial debut, Emergency, has finally locked in a new release date. The period political thriller, where Ranaut stars as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is now set to hit cinemas on January 17, 2025.

Kangana Ranaut took to social media to announce the news, sharing a striking new poster that features the ensemble cast. Alongside Ranaut as Indira Gandhi, the film stars:

·         Vishak Nair as Sanjay Gandhi

·         Anupam Kher as Jai Prakash Narayan

·         Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee

·         Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

In her post, Kangana wrote:

“The epic saga of the nation’s most powerful woman and the moment that altered India’s destiny. #Emergency – Unveils Only in cinemas!”

The chosen release date positions the film just ahead of Republic Day, a strategic move to capitalize on the patriotic fervor of the season. However, it will compete closely with Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which is slated for the Republic Day weekend.

The journey to bring Emergency to audiences has been far from smooth. Originally slated for release on September 5, the film faced significant roadblocks, including backlash from Sikh groups. The controversy escalated when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) withdrew its certification for the film, forcing the postponement of its release.

Despite these challenges, Ranaut has remained steadfast in her vision, with Emergency set to showcase a pivotal moment in India’s history through the lens of one of its most powerful leaders.
