Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming movie Emergency might face a ban in Telangana. On Thursday, government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir disclosed that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has assured Sikh community leaders that the state government will consider prohibiting the film’s release. This follows a meeting where a delegation of 18 members from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, met Shabbir at the Secretariat and requested the ban.
The delegation submitted a report expressing concerns about the film’s depiction of the Sikh community. They claimed that Emergency portrays Sikhs as terrorists and anti-nationals, describing the portrayal as “offensive” and potentially damaging to the community’s image.
After the meeting, Shabbir asked the Chief Minister to evaluate the possibility of banning the film in Telangana. The final decision will be made after seeking legal advice.
On the same day, the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal also appealed to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to halt the release of Emergency. They accused the film of spreading misinformation and warned that it could incite communal tensions.
What do you think, is banning the movie right?
