Comedian Kapil Sharma recently paid a moving tribute to his late father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, during a podcast interview. Kapil’s father served as a head constable in the Punjab Police and passed away in 2004 after a prolonged seven-year struggle with cancer.

During his appearance on the podcast, Kapil Sharma reminisced about his childhood, noting the scarcity of family outings due to his father’s constant work commitments. He described the police force as a “thankless” job and revealed that this reality played a significant role in his decision to pursue a career that he genuinely enjoys.

As quoted by an entertainment portal, Kapil Sharma shared, “I have seen my father working so hard. And the Police force is such a thankless job. We barely went out as a family, neither have we celebrated festivals because he wouldn’t have any offs for us. It has been in Mumbai, where I saw that we have family dinners, weekends and all. So I realised that I would do something that makes me enjoy my job. I need to be passionate about it. And talking about focus, I had no other choice. My dad had a government job and getting one such job is difficult.”

Kapil’s words poignantly illustrate how witnessing his father’s dedication and the sacrifices involved in his profession shaped Kapil’s perspective on work and ultimately guided him towards a path driven by passion and personal fulfillment.
