Karan Johar is known for his cryptic yet sharp responses to online trolls, and once again, he didn’t hold back. On Saturday, the filmmaker took to Instagram to share his thoughts on kindness, lamenting how rare it has become.
He expressed his disappointment in a thought-provoking note, saying that kindness, which was once a virtue, has now turned into a “limited edition emotion,” constantly out of stock and often imitated rather than genuinely felt.
He wrote, “Kindness was once a virtue…now it’s a limited edition emotion…it’s never in stock and there are way too many replicas!”

His post comes at a time when a video of YouTuber Elvish Yadav has been making waves on social media. The clip, taken from Elvish’s podcast, features a discussion with actress Ankita Lokhande about nepotism in Bollywood. Ankita explained that while favoritism isn’t necessarily intentional, people in the industry tend to work with those they are already familiar with. She acknowledged the existence of groupism but clarified that it’s not outright bias.
At this point in the conversation, Elvish took a jab at Karan Johar, playfully interrupting Ankita by saying, “Don’t talk about Karan Johar like that.” However, Ankita was quick to set the record straight, emphasizing that it isn’t just Karan but a widespread practice across the industry. “Everyone does it, not just Karan. Everyone has their own group,” she pointed out.
Adding to the discussion, Ankita’s husband, Vicky Jain, echoed the sentiment. He remarked that the film industry operates on familiarity, with most people preferring to collaborate within their existing circles rather than bringing in outsiders.
While Karan Johar’s cryptic post didn’t directly address the video, the timing of his statement has led many to wonder if it was a subtle response to the ongoing nepotism debate once again reigniting in Bollywood.
