Karan Johar Requests Akshay Kumar To Reconsider Jolly LLB 3 Release Date

Earlier today, filmmaker Karan Johar announced the upcoming biopic on C Sankaran Nair, starring Akshay Kumar, set for a Holi 2025 release on March 15. The announcement quickly gained traction on social media. However, according to recent updates from an entertainment portal, a scheduling conflict with Akshay Kumar’s other project, Jolly LLB 3, has come to light.

Sources reveal that Karan Johar has requested Akshay Kumar to reconsider the release date of Jolly LLB 3, which is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, 2025, just 20 days after the Sankaran Nair biopic. Both films belong to the courtroom drama genre, and Johar is concerned that releasing them so close together could affect their performance.

“Karan has requested Akshay to move Jolly LLB 3 ahead by a few weeks to avoid the clash,” a source told the portal. The tight window between the two releases, combined with their similar themes, raises concerns about audience fatigue.

While Akshay Kumar is reportedly considering Karan’s request, his producers are hesitant to shift from the valuable summer release window. Jolly LLB 3 is slated for April 10, 2025, a date that offers multiple holidays in the first two weeks, making it a prime slot for attracting audiences. “It’s a tough decision for Akshay as both films share the same genre,” the source added, explaining that discussions are currently underway with the producers of Jolly LLB 3.

The Jolly LLB franchise, known for its courtroom comedy-drama style, began in 2013 with Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles. Akshay Kumar replaced Arshad in the 2017 sequel, with Huma Qureshi joining the cast. The third installment is highly anticipated, and the team is carefully weighing the options for its release date.
