Indian industrialist Sunjay Kapur, known for his significant contributions to the automotive industry and his passion for polo, tragically passed away at the age of 53 in the United Kingdom on Thursday, June 12. Sources indicate that he suffered a fatal heart attack while playing polo.
Reports suggest the heart attack was triggered by a bee entering his mouth as he was riding during the match. Despite immediate medical attention, Kapur, the ex-husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, could not be revived after collapsing on the field.
Kapur was a prominent figure, serving as the chairman of Sona Comstar and holding a key position as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region. His leadership at the CII extended across seven Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand—and three Union Territories, including Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. His sudden demise leaves a significant void in both the business and sporting communities.
