Kevin Pietersen Leaves DC After His Team Defeats CSK By 25 Runs

Kevin Pietersen, the former England captain and legendary batter, has temporarily stepped away from his mentoring role with Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025. The 44-year-old posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, April 6, showing himself en route to the Maldives, signaling a short vacation away from cricket duties.

“Paradise loading in the Maldives. DND for a while!” he wrote, hinting at a brief digital detox as he takes time off from the high-pressure tournament.

Pietersen, who has previously represented both Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru during his IPL playing career, returned to DC this season as part of the support staff. Since his arrival, the franchise has had a dream start to their campaign, winning all three of their opening matches. Under his mentorship and the leadership of Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals currently sit at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with six points.

His departure from the team camp came right after DC’s convincing 25-run victory over Chennai Super Kings on April 5. As per reports, Pietersen will not be present for DC’s fourth league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10, which will be held in Bengaluru. However, fans of the franchise can expect his return ahead of their much-anticipated home fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

After hosting their first two home games in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals are set to return to their base in the capital for their April 13 clash against Mumbai Indians. With Pietersen expected back in the dugout, DC will look to continue their winning momentum on home turf.
