Khushboo Patani slams Aniruddhacharya

Bollywood star Disha Patani’s older sister, Khushboo Patani, a former Indian Army officer, has openly denounced spiritual teacher Aniruddhacharya Maharaj for his divisive comments regarding women in cohabitation. The problem arose when a video of the guru’s address went viral online and received criticism for its gender-biased and disparaging tone.

An Outrage-Sparking Viral Video

Aniruddhacharya is heard saying in the widely circulated video that young men are bringing home women who are 25 years old and have, in his words, “been with multiple partners.” Perceived as an outright assault on women’s choices, the remark swiftly gained widespread attention. It sparked harsh criticism from several sources, including Khushboo Patani, who did not mince words.

Khushboo took to social media and shared a video response in which she questioned the guru’s terminology and the underlying philosophy. She claimed that if the remark had been made in front of her, she would have approached him head-on and explained why the language was improper. She also objected to the comment’s exclusive focus on women, omitting any mention of the men in these kinds of relationships.

Gender bias and double standards

Khushboo questioned the unfairness of Aniruddhacharya’s statement in her video. She brought up the fact that two consenting adults are involved in a live-in relationship, but the criticism was limited to the ladies. She called the guru and his followers contributors to the decline of society and accused him of spreading antiquated and misogynistic beliefs.

She further heightened her criticism by using strong words to characterise the spiritual leader’s followers, labelling them “anti-nationalists” and “namards,” which means cowards. She believes that it is detrimental to the fabric of society to support those who denigrate women in the name of tradition.

Aniruddhacharya Expresses Remorse

Aniruddhacharya, who some people call “Pookie Baba,” apologised after the public outrage. It didn’t, however, lessen the criticism from Khushboo and others who thought his initial remarks were incredibly insulting and backwards.

Who Is Khushboo Patani?

The hometown of Khushboo Patani is Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. She retired as a Major in 2024 after more than ten years of service in the Indian Army. She started in electronics and communication engineering before switching to personal development and health. She currently works as a spiritual adviser, meditation instructor, and fitness coach. Her strong and vocal opinions have earned her a sizable following.
