Khushi Kapoor’s debut in The Archies in 2023 may not have received the warmest reception, but the young actress remains unfazed by the criticism. While the film faced backlash for its casting choices and her performance did not resonate with a large section of the audience, Khushi has no regrets about her first project. As she prepares for the release of her second film, Loveyapa, she stands by her experience with The Archies and the lessons it taught her.
Reflecting on the film in a recent interview, Khushi was asked if she would change anything about Zoya Akhtar’s adaptation. Rather than dwelling on the criticism, she pointed out that the film’s marketing could have been clearer about its intended audience. “I think it should have been made more obvious that The Archies was aimed at a younger demographic. I don’t think anything needed to be changed creatively, because I truly believe the film was meant for a very young audience. The ones who enjoyed it the most were kids below the age of 16. And honestly, not everything has to be made for everyone,” she shared in the interview.
Despite the mixed reactions, she remains grateful for her debut project. “I don’t regret doing the film at all. I learned everything from it. I owe so much to Zoya, and I feel a deep connection to the film and the people I worked with,” she added.
As she moves forward with Loveyapa, Khushi Kapoor admits to feeling more pressure this time around. In a previous interview, she revealed that she is far more stressed about her second film because she believes she has given her best performance yet. Unlike The Archies, which premiered on OTT, Loveyapa will have a theatrical release, bringing with it the challenge of box office expectations. With a new film on the horizon, Khushi is ready to prove herself once again.
