The Indian cricketer and skipper of IPL team Lucknow Super Gaints, KL Rahul recently traveled to Kolkata to meet with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka, fueling speculation about his future with the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 retention announcement. Rumors suggested that Rahul might part ways with LSG, but the Monday meeting may have influenced the franchise’s plans.
As per the reports, the meeting lasted for an hour and took place at Judges Court Road, Alipore. The discussion primarily focused on Rahul’s potential retention and the team’s player combination for the upcoming season.
The news agency PTI reported that Rahul has expressed his desire to remain with LSG, although the franchise has yet to make a firm commitment regarding his retention.
A source revealed, “Yes, Rahul came to Kolkata and met Dr. Goenka at the RPG head office. He clearly communicated to Dr. Goenka that he wants to be retained. However, until the BCCI releases the retention policy, LSG management is hesitant to finalize their plans. Rahul is keen on being retained, but until LSG understands how many players they can retain and what the new salary cap will be, they cannot commit to anyone.”
Many felt that KL Rahul will leave LSG after Sanjiv Goenka had an animated chat with him after SRH thrashed LSG in a match in IPL2024 but it seems KL Rahul is keen on staying with LSG.
