On Wednesday, comedian Kunal Kamra—who recently stirred controversy with his satirical take on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde—claimed that T-Series had issued a copyright infringement notice against his video.

Kamra shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), stating that YouTube had flagged his parody video for copyright violations. “Hello T-Series… Parody & satire fall under fair use legally. I haven’t used the lyrics or the original instrumental of the song. If you take this video down, then every cover song or dance video should also be removed. Creators, take note!” — Kamra wrote.

He further criticized corporate monopolies in India, saying: “Every monopoly in India is nothing short of a mafia. So please watch/download this special before it gets taken down.”

Known for his fearless stand-up comedy targeting politicians and celebrities, Kamra recently faced backlash from Eknath Shinde’s supporters after performing a parody song about the Shiv Sena leader.

On Sunday night, Shiv Sena activists vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai’s Khar suburb, where Kamra had performed. They also targeted the hotel where the club is located.

Despite the controversy, Kunal Kamra refused to apologize, stating: “I will not apologize or hide under the bed waiting for the controversy to die down.” On Monday night, he reaffirmed his stance in a public statement.

Following a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, Khar police have filed a case against the 36-year-old comedian for allegedly making defamatory remarks about Eknath Shinde.

Meanwhile, police sources revealed that Kamra is currently in Puducherry, as per his Instagram updates. He has been summoned to appear within a week for questioning.
