Madgaon Express with Kunal
During the Chalchitra Talks vodcast last year, Kunal discussed the movie and stated that he didn’t think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara by Zoya Akhtar and Dil Chahta Hai by Farhan were relatable. Despite the fact that the films were aspirational, he claimed he could not identify with the “rich brats” in them. He claimed in the same interview that he approached Madgaon Express with the idea of making the characters on film relatable to “people like him.”
“But you feel inke pas toh sab kuch hai yar,” Kunal replied. Aaya tab samajh paise se khushi nahi khareedi ja sakti hai. In the meanwhile, let’s see how things go. The relatability of Jissey is high. You get the impression that these folks are wealthy and successful. That’s when it hit me you can’t purchase happiness. However, in order to create relatability, I had to play characters that were similar to me on film. This became very idealistic. My proposal to the filmmakers of those flicks was, “Mere Jise Logon Ka Kya?” What about individuals that are similar to me? They should see this movie.
