“Lamborghini Shifts Gears: Embracing an Electric Era, Pure-Petrol Cars Make Way for Hybrids and EVs”

Renowned Italian supercar manufacturer, Lamborghini, has made a groundbreaking announcement signaling a major shift in the automotive industry. In line with evolving global emissions regulations and a commitment to environmental sustainability, the company has sold out its remaining production of pure-petrol models.Lamborghini’s decision marks a significant shift towards a future where hybrid and electric vehicles take center stage, deviating from their conventional lineup. It sets the stage for an era where sustainability and innovation drive the brand’s direction.

Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s CEO, assured that the shift towards EV’s will not compromise which the passengers will face while having thrilling experience that defines what the brand is about. The transition aims to maintain the excitement and performance that Lamborgini is all about. To prove this point, the upcoming Revuelto supercar was unveiled as Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid. The Revuelto, equipped with a V12 engine, three electric motors, and a compact battery, is expected to unleash more than 1,000 horsepower and achieve an awe-inspiring 0-62 mph acceleration in just 2.5 seconds.

Lamborghini has made a significant investment of around 1.8 billion euros (USD 2 billion) towards their hybrid lineup. They have ambitious plans to introduce plug-in hybrid variants of their current combustion-engined models between 2024 and 2025.Notably, Lamborghini experienced record sales in India last year, achieving a remarkable 33% growth, driven by the popularity of their versatile Urus SUV and iconic supercars.

The Revuelto has garnered immense popularity among supercar enthusiasts, with demand surpassing expectations. In fact, Lamborghini has already sold out the model until the end of 2025. CEO Stephan Winkelmann expressed optimism that the Revuelto could surpass the sales figures of its predecessor, the Aventador, which sold 11,465 units over an 11-year production span. The United States and other major global markets have shown particularly strong interest in the Revuelto and other Lamborghini models. One of the key factors contributing to the Revuelto’s high demand is its extraordinary performance. With a thunderous 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine harmonizing with three electric motors, the Revuelto boasts an astonishing total output of 1,001 horsepower. This powertrain propels the Revuelto to a league of its own, surpassing even the most extreme variants of the Aventador. Interestingly, Lamborghini’s conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) models like the Urus and Huracan continue to attract significant attention and demand alongside the electrified offerings. In summary, Lamborghini’s historic decision to bid farewell to pure-petrol cars and fully embrace hybrids and EVs showcases their commitment to a sustainable and electrified future. The forthcoming Revuelto, with its exceptional performance, is just the beginning of Lamborghini’s electrification journey, demonstrating that the thrill of driving a Lamborghini will only become more exhilarating with the integration of cutting-edge hybrid and electric technologies.
