Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary Indian playback singer may have departed from this world last year but she will always be alive in our hearts because of the beautiful songs that she has sung in her career of seven decades.
On Friday night, many songs of Lata Mangeshkar were played at Royal Albert Hall, London as a tribute to the Indian singer and the singer who sang all these songs was Palak Muchhal. Lata Mangeshkar also performed at Royal Albert Hall and that was in 1974, almost 49 years back.
Lata Mangeshkar: Bollywood Legend was a part of Proms 18 which is BBC’s annual summer season of orchestral music and it is organized for the purpose of widening the appeal of western classical music among the Indian music lovers.
Palak Muchhal started the show by singing the famous title track of movie, Satyam Shivam Sundaram followed by songs from movies – Mughal-e-Azam, Kabhi Kabhie, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Lata Mangeshkar had sung around 50K songs in 36 different languages and she was given the nickname of “Nightingale of India” because of her melodious voice.
