Ravinder Sharma started Bengaluru-based oral care company Live-a-bit in 2020, and the company provides robust plant-based solutions in tablet form. It has regulatory approval for 55 goods and more than 80 SKUs.
Live-a-bit is a D2C firm located in Bangalore that provides sustainable and creative oral care goods such as untubed toothpaste, unbottled mouthwash, and under-manufactured toothbrushes made of biodegradable wood instead of plastic. Ravinder Sharma, the founder of Live-a-bit, feels that dental health is important yet often overlooked. The company sells environmentally friendly items including untubed toothpaste, unbottled mouth wash, and under-manufactured toothbrushes that substitute plastic with biodegradable wood.
The entrepreneur first committed $400K of his own money to bootstrap the firm, which operates on three pillars: perform, preserve, and pledge. Before submitting items for regulatory clearance, Live-A-Bit conducted over 600 experiments over a 12-month period.
Its Teeth-a-bit line currently includes solid toothpaste and mouthwash formulations, as well as presence in symptomatic areas such as multi-protection and sensitivity, and teeth whitening. The in-house R&D team, which has more than “40 years of experience,” designs and formulates the goods. Liv-a-bit is a direct-to-consumer platform that allows customers to create their own dental care kits depending on their preferences.
It offers a variety of neem and bamboo tooth brushes for adults and children that are free of water, preservatives, dyes, artificial colours, toxins, parabens, and SLS. It is available on more than 15 online platforms, including Amazon, Flipkart, Amala Earth, Tata 1Mg, Big Basket, and Angry Earth, as well as physical retailers like The Organic World.
The platform hopes to achieve a 70:30 online-offline ratio in the near future. The Indian oral hygiene market was valued at $1,844 million in 2022 and is predicted to reach $2,586.3 million by 2028, according to IMARC Group. Liv-a-bit now operates 20 offline outlets in Bangalore and Hyderabad and plans to extend distribution to 5,000 retailers in India over the next 18-24 months. It also intends to sign up over a lakh clients in the following 24 months.
