Bollywood superstar struggles and big-budget movie flops have some in the industry wondering if star power is fading. According to Shreyas Talpade, audiences are tired of Bollywood films’ mediocre content.
The dull phase of Bollywood, superstars’ films failing at the box office, star power eroding, and audiences rejecting big-budget movies were addressed by actor and director Shreyas Talpade. Bollywood has been drab in 2022, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Bollywood films have underperformed this year too.
Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, as well as Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Setu, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan bombed at the box office. Shreyas Talpade, who will star in Kartam Bhugtam, addressed Bollywood celebs’ low point. Shreyas said viewers are tired of superstars promoting substandard stuff.
During the conversation, Shreyas said, ” Log thak gaye hai (People are tired). People now recognize from the trailer what this (film) will be. Whether to go for it or not to go.” Shreyas said that the trailer of Kartam Bhugatam will leave an impression among the audience. “We promote as much as we want, the theatre-going audience will see the trailer and decide whether to watch the film or not. When to watch it, or after word-of-mouth.”
Shreyas further talked about the low phase in Bollywood.
He said, “Aise thodi hai ki star power hai, toh unki saari filmein chalegi. Rajesh Khanna sir ki line se filmein hit hui thi, phir ek time baad nahi chali toh nahi chali. So that has been happening from the time we had films, and it will happen in future also.” (It’s not like an actor’s film will continue to be a hit, if the actor has star power. Rajesh Khanna sir’s films were consecutively a hit, but after some time his films did not work..So that has been happening from the time we had cinema, and it will happen in future also.”)
