Lucknow schools closed due to cold wave till this date

Cold wave and dense fog have forced Lucknow schools to remain closed until January 6, 2024. The district magistrate and District Education Officer, Ram Pravesh, gave the ruling.

Due to the cold wave and dense fog, Lucknow’s district administration closed schools for Class 1 to Class 8 children on Tuesday until January 6.
The Lucknow district magistrate ordered the District Education Officer, Ram Pravesh, to announce a winter vacation at all schools until January 6.

“Regarding the above subject, you know that the entire state, including Lucknow, is experiencing a severe cold wave. “The District Magistrate has ordered you to provide leave for all students from pre-primary to class 8 until January 6, 2024,” read the decree.
“If classes from class 9 to 12 are being conducted then their timings should be kept between 10:00 am to 03:00 pm only,” said.

The aforementioned must be strictly followed. Any school that violates the above shall face serious penalties “District Education Officer directive.

Last Monday, the Varanasi district government closed Class 1–8 schools till January 6 owing to cold weather.


Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra, DG, India Meteorological Department (IMD), said, “We predict night temperatures to drop on 5-11 January, which may cause cold waves in central India.

“The day temperature will also be below normal leading to cold day conditions, especially in Madhya Pradesh, northern parts of Maharashtra, and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh,” said Mohapatra.

National capital residents woke up to a very cold New Year’s dawn on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department reported a 9°C minimum temperature in the capital on an unusually languid Monday due to a cold wave and dense fog.

Locals urged the authorities to help the underprivileged and night shelter residents.
