Maharaja box office collection day 6: The film Maharaja has been performing exceptionally well domestically. It tells the tale of a simple barber’s love for his child.

Maharaja box office collection day 6: Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap’s Maharaja has seen great success at the box office since its release on June 14th, as per an update on Sacnilk.com it collected Rs 3 crore on its sixth day of release bringing its India total up to Rs 35 crore. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan and released into theatres on June 14, this film continues its box office success at cinemas across India.

Reports indicate that Maharaja earned Rs 4.7 crore on its initial day of release (Tamil: Rs3.6 crore; Telugu: Rs1.1 crore), before experiencing increased success on subsequent days and garnering Rs 7.75 crore (Tamil: 5.85 crore; Telugu: R1.9 crore). On day 3, it earned even higher, at Rs9.4 crore [Tamil: Rs7.25 crore; Telugu: Rs2.15 crore]. Earning Rs6.3 crore in Tamil (5.15 crore / Telugu 1.15 crore), followed by another Rs4 crore on day five – it managed to break through 30 crore in earnings! Maharaja early estimates have reached Rs 35.15 crore so far in India. Vijay Sethupathi marks 50 films as an actor with this film featuring Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami Singampuli and Kalki in supporting roles. Ajaneesh Loknath composed its music.


Nithilan Swaminathan’s film has received critical acclaim and reviews in both Hindustan Times and Mumbai Mirror, where it received five stars overall from critics. An excerpt from a Hindustan Times review read, “Nithilan Swaminathan has given us a slow-burning thriller. While at first, it seems unconnected characters come into play, by intermission we start realising there are larger issues at play – after the intermission, you start connecting the dots on why Maharaja is on such an intense mission to find Lakshmi.”


Vijay Sethupathi recently celebrated 50 films as an actor with Maharaja. Additionally starring are Mamta Mohandas, Natraj (Natty), Bharathiraja, Abhirami Singampuli and Kalki with music composed by Ajaneesh Loknath.
