Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, asserted on Monday that the Aadhaar cards of the state’s SC, ST, and minority population are being deactivated in advance of the Lok Sabha elections.
She said that the Aadhaar cards are being deactivated in order to introduce the National Registrar of Citizens (NRC), criticising the BJP leadership at the federal level.
At the state secretariat, Ms. Banerjee told reporters that she will write Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this.
“Why were so many Aadhaar cards cancelled before to the Lok Sabha meeting? The majority of Matua community members’ Aadhaar cards have been cancelled. Minority and ST cards are also being cancelled, according to Banerjee.
