Bollywood actors have had a peculiar relationship with body hair. Director Anurag Kashyap once revealed that Salman Khan got him fired after he suggested that the actor grew chest hair for his role in the movie, Tere Naam.
Similarly, fashion designer Manish Malhotra recalled that Akshay Kumar was “horrified” when he recommended trimming his chest hair for a role.
Speaking on a YouTube channel, Manish Malhotra shared that, in the past, women were very picky about the clothes they wanted to wear, whereas men didn’t care much.
He recounted an incident during the shooting of a song for Dhadkan in Switzerland, where he advised Akshay Kumar to trim his chest hair because he was wearing a white shirt. Akshay was shocked by the suggestion. “It was for ‘Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se’. And the director, Dharmesh Darshan, supported me and agreed that it was the right decision,” Manish added.
