Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia was granted permission by a Delhi court on Monday to see his sick wife once a week while he was being held in detention for violating the Delhi excise policy.

Sisodia was brought before the court upon the expiration of his last detention, and special judge M K Nagpal further prolonged his judicial custody till February 22.

While delaying his bail request in instances involving the excise policy that the ED and the CBI had filed, the judge issued the decision. Sisodia had requested custody and parole so that he could see his sick wife twice a week.

On February 22, the following hearing day, the judge ordered the CBI to provide a thorough status report about their ongoing investigation regarding the purported excise policy matter. After the defence attorneys complained to “non-full disclosure” on the investigation’s status, the judge gave the CBI the directive.

The CBI filed a report during the hearings indicating that the investigation is still underway and at a critical point, but that the inquiry against the 16 suspects who have been charged has been finished. The investigate agency stated that more investigation is being conducted against the other suspects and accused in the case and suggested that the court set a date for the charge’s arguments.

The defence attorney disputed the CBI’s submission, claiming that the status report was lacking certain details. He stated, “We just received the translated copies of the documents today, and we need time to review them.” He went on to say that until the inquiry is finished, there is no purpose in arguing about charges. In order to provide defence attorneys access to the large case files, the court has also ordered the CBI to put software on their laptops.
