Manoj Muntashir Supports Kangana Ranaut Over Emergency Row

Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated film Emergency has been postponed from its original release date of September 6. The delay is reportedly due to the film still awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film has been at the center of a growing controversy, with several Sikh groups protesting its portrayal of historical events and figures.

The controversy primarily revolves around the film’s depiction of the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the portrayal of her assassins, who were Sikh. Various Sikh groups have expressed concerns, arguing that the film could misrepresent and potentially harm the Sikh community’s image.

In response to the criticism, Kangana Ranaut shared a video on Instagram featuring Manoj Muntashir, the film’s lyricist, addressing the ongoing issues. Muntashir urged the Sikh community to withhold judgment until they have seen the film in its entirety. He emphasized that the film should be viewed in its historical context, not as an attack on any community. Muntashir also highlighted that the film is the result of the hard work of over 500 crew members and deserves a fair assessment.

Manoj Muntashir stated, “The issue is that the film shows the brutal assassination of Indira Gandhi. Are we supposed to believe she died in a road accident? I refuse to believe that Sikhs, who stand fearlessly for the truth with the chant of ‘Ek Onkar Satnam,’ are afraid of what a film shows.”
