In a shocking incident, the Indian cricketer and current skipper of the Karnataka team Mayank Agarwal was rushed to hospital in Agartala just before his flight was about to take-off for New Delhi. It all happened after the Karnataka skipper drank a poisonous liquid from a pouch thinking that it was water as he was on-board with Indigo Airlines.
Mayank Agarwal has registered a formal police complaint through his manager citing foul-play. The SP West Tripura Kiran Kumar told mediapersons, “Mayank Agarwal, an international cricket player. Now he is stable and his vitals are normal. But his manager has lodged a specific complaint under NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to investigate the matter.”
Talking about the incident, the top police official stated, “His manager said that when he was sitting in the aeroplane, there was a pouch in front of him. He drank a little bit not much but suddenly there was irritation in his mouth and suddenly he couldn’t talk also and was brought to ILS hospital. He had swelling and ulcers in the mouth. Otherwise his vitals are stable.”
Mayank Agarwal was slated to travel to Surat with the team for their next Ranji Trophy match against Railways but now he won’t be playing the next match and Nikin Jose will be leading the team in his absence.
The hospital also issued a press release in which it stated that the cricketer is “experiencing some oral irritation and swelling on his lips. After being assessed by the consultants of the hospital in emergency, he was admitted. For now, he is clinically stable and is being constantly clinically monitored.”
Mayank Agarwal will travel to Bengaluru whenever he will be in a position to travel but this is really shocking and the incident should be investigated properly.
