Asha Kandara chose to go back to school to give her children a good life. She passed the RAS exam to become a deputy collector.
Pushpa is a popular TV serial in which a woman starts studying in school again to give a respectable life to herself and her kids. The same is true for Asha Kandara, who worked as a janitor for the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation (North). Asha Kandara went back to school and became a deputy collector at the Jodhpur Nagar Nigam in spite of all the challenges she was facing.
After five years of marriage, her husband left her and their two children. She is now a single mother. So that she could pay her bills, she started sweeping the streets.
The mayor of the JMC, Kunti Deora Parihar, says, “Asha had a hard time making ends meet when she worked as a janitor. She worked in a town of sweepers, who don’t always put schooling first.
But Asha chose to go back to school so she could give her children a good life.
So, after she left him, she finished her degree and studied for the Rajasthan Administration Services (RAS) exam, which is used to hire people for the state government’s administrative services. She worked hard all day and went to school at night to make this happen.
Asha took the RAS test in 2018, but because of the pandemic, she had to wait a long time for the results. Asha finally found out on July 15, 2021, that she had passed the test and placed 728th.
“When the results came out, my name was on the list. My happiness was limitless. Asha says, “Being made fun of gave me the strength to become something in life and give society a good answer.”
